I am moving to Brazil for 6 months, I want to be close to the nightlife, girls, beach, but low cost of living? I am 22, white, intelligent, and great looking. I want to move to Brazil with a friend of mine who falls under those same categories. We want to be close to the beach, a great night life, gorgeous women, and a good time. We need a good aaaass to cost of living ratio. :) We do not have tons of money but will be moving with roughly 5 grand each. We were hoping to get a job down there, but didn't know if this was even possible? Is it? Also we will probably rent for the first 6 months or so, to figure out if we would like to stay. Can you guys give me any ideas as to where I should move to in Brazil. I like the sound of Rio De Janeiro but it seems to be the most expensive? How much "spending money" do you give your international au pairs in Virginia Beach, VA area? I am interested in some au pairs from Brazil, Philippines or another latin country. I will have them watch 2 girls for about 30 hours a week and some household chairs (kids laundry, dishes and basic stuff they can do while watching the girls). I saw some stuff on the site and it said 600 a week and i think that seems really high as i could pay less for a local person who wasnt receiving room/board. I was an au pair in Spain about 10 years ago and got 60 euros a week. Anyone have an au pair who can chime in on this? I am not talking about a "nanny" that is different a professional position. An au pair is more a part of a cultural exchange. It is good because it will be enriching to both the au pair and my children. To the jerk who said to raise my own kids - i do. Bipolar and rejection? Girl I fell in love with...Then rejected in the worst way? I went through an on and off relationship with a girl from Brazil. She fell for me first because she thought that I was very different from the "common" men who sought after her. I have my walls up because of my disorder and wanted to protect her at the same time. I eventually caved in and she had to move to Singapore for work. We stayed in contact through phone calls and a series of letters and email. I cared so much for her and it finally felt as thought my affinity was for the right reasons for the first time. She talked about possibilities about her and I and expressed her admiration for the way I write about life. Even though I knew that this long distance thing was not the most sensible of ideas, I still wanted to keep the door open and couldn't help my feelings for her. Ultimately, I flew to see her. We spent three days in Thailand on a beautiful beach and five in her apartment in Singapore. We had amazing moments and arguments as well. After my return, she started to avoid me and I started to accept her motives until an email she sent me three months later. She wrote that I had a beautiful outlook on life and a particular way. She also wrote that "common" people do not understand me and that I was a stranger in my place. That I had done more for her than any other man but that her world was far more rational than mine. Well, this absolutely devastated me and I cannot elaborate without going into too much detail. It broke my heart in the worst of ways and now I feel like ,after all the trials that I have overcome and to finally accept my disposition as I am, I must find myself again. I cannot put into words how this hurts. I feel like I need to tell her why it hurt me so badly. Mind you, I did not have mood swings on this trip. In fact, she was evaluating my every move as I wanted to take in all the beautiful sites, then she made me feel like I didn't fit in with all of her friends and coworkers. I accepted her as she analyzed my every word. She told me thank you as I left as to say that I "failed my test". I thought that she already knew me. Guys, I need advice as to what to do. I have tried so many things in my life to put this away yet it cuts so deep. I had walls up for a reason and am now unbelievably insecure about relationships and my own self perception. I came so far to get my confidence where it was prior to this experience and did not let criticism bother me, but because I was so invested in this person it won't stop circling around to grieving stage one in my mind. I know this seems so over analyzed yet this is what it did to me.

Has the channel 7 coverage of the olympics lived up to expectations and hype ? I have been an avid watcher of Beijing 2008 however i have found the Channel 7 coverage to be extremely frustrating. Besides the lack of clear scheduling detail, the lack of coverage across a range of sports has been disappointing. Yesterday (21 Aug) was an unfortunate example. We get unending coverage of the womens 20km walk which would have been great had we been watching Jane Saville, but we weren't. Every so often we crossed to the men's 10km swim where we had a medal chance sitting in the top pack the whole time. the Melissa Wu diving semi was a delayed telecast (pse tell us)...the website had the rounds published well before the telecast finished. Was it delayed to cover the Brazil/US beach volleyball ?? And then, after a fantastic effort by the women's water polo, we only see the last two girls get their bronze medals...this would have been bitterly disappointing for the families back home. Those games that are covered in full (some basketball) suffer from ads being on for the first minute or so of quarters...it doesn't happen with the AFL coverage. And what of some of the rowing coverage where we joined live races part way through ? Have Channel 7 thought of split screening telecasts....if they must talk while events are on, then at least show them in a small screen simultaneously.....or show two events together. The continual ads are an accepted evil of sponsorship requirements however here are a few thoughts for those who sponsor: saturation advertising wears thin after a short time. I won't be changing to Commonwealth or Bendigo banks in a hurry nor going out to buy Red Rooster. I would give more credit to an organisation that allowed coverage to continue ..that is, paid for space but kept the coverage running and have it recognised as such: (flyers, under the screen scrolls, watermarks etc) SBS has not been blessed with the big sports, but at least you get the whole thing (cyclingtim etrial, road race, water polo etc). How can I have fun in Cali? What can I do to have fun there? I'm from Brazil and I was living in California for 2 years. I came back to Brazil, but now after 3 months living here I have to go back to cali. But It's too boring living there. I've made only a few friends while I was living there. The beach is too far alway. I live in Brentwood (2 hours from San Francisco). I'm a junior going to be a senior now after the summer vacation. When I went to america I was like 14-15 years old.
