What are some ways to or how do you approach a girl/girls at the beach and start a conversation?

I am 18 and live in Panama City Beach, FL but I'm horrible at talking to girls because I get nervous and have low self-confidence. I just had my first kiss last night and it was awesome, I was wondering how to walk up to a group of girls and start a conversation with them while they are on the beach and some tips to help with flirting and getting some numbers. 1. Start by asking " Could you please tell me what time it is?"
2. Make sure you dont come on too strong. Just go up and ask them a question like: What time is it? Do you guys live around here? Or just ask them if you can hang out cuz your waiting on your buddies. Just dont be obnoxious and be yourself. Trust me girls like it when any guy comes and talks to them. Just dont hit on them right away.
