Brazil Beach Girl

How many days are needed at a semi fast pace to visit Rio, Brazil?

I would like to also visit Ouro Preto and maybe Parque Nacional Do Itatiaia while I am down there.

  1. Itatiaia Park - What exactly you want to do that? THe first day ticket will cost R$20 but the second day is 50% cheaper. The Park is really big and there are a lot of things to do and visit inside the park. Some tracking can only be done with a guide that has a permission to do it inside the park. It is also important to know when you want to go to there since there is a period during the year that is the best period to visit the park (between June and September). I would say that 1 day (if you are not so used to walk) would be good. But if you like to walk and enjoy this kind of park you can stay about 3 days and do some long walks that will show you beautiful waterfalls. It is located about 155 km from Rio de Janeiro. Ouro Preto - It is located about 400km from Rio de Janeiro (and 420 km from Itatiaia). This is an amazing city to visit if you like to know about our history. The city was affected by the discovery of gold before 1700. At that time the city was the capital of the state with another name (Vila Rica - Rich Villa). The importance of gold can be find in all churchs and museums of the city. At that time the clergy had an important power in the country and due to it the churchs were basically decorated with gold. Anyway... at least 3 days would necessary to visit these points in the city but they also have parks and ecologic trips in the region. So 5 days would be really good. Rio de Janeiro - Beside the beachs, You can visit the Cristo Redentor but it is closed right now for visits. You can also visit the Pão de Açucar but both places can be visit in one day and you still have a time to spend at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. It seems that you like parks so you can visit the Jardim botânico, Parque Lage (and take an amazing breakfast inside the park), Parque Nacional da Tijuca. I would say that at least 3 days would be the minimal to enjoy the city but 5 days would be nice. So, considering you have to travel to Itatiaia and Ouro preto by bus (and I could not find a bus line between both cities what means that you need to go back to Rio in order to go the other city). I think that 2 weeks would be enough. Less than that will mean a really fast pace trip.
